活佛老師慈悲： Living Buddha Teacher’s compassionate message: 【 做個成功的講師 Being a Successful Lecturer 】 講師講課或渡人時，你講得再多，或許對別人很有用，但對自己卻一點用處也沒有，因為你只是講給別人聽而已，自已從來也不曾用心去觀照過，這樣的講課，渡人就太可惜了。 When a lecturer gives a lecture or ferry people, no matter how much you say, it may be very useful to others, but it is of no use at all to yourself. This is because you are only speaking for others to hear; you yourself have never truly used your heart to reflect on it. To lecture and ferry people in this way is truly a pity. 徒啊！要時時學習，時時改變自我才會進步。不要怕去探索，在摸索中，可能會碰到稜角，但碰到了才知道有新的路。 Disciples! You must learn at all times; only by constantly changing yourself will you improve. Do not be afraid to explore. While groping your way, you may bump into rough edges, but only after bumping into them will you know there is a new path. 咱們如果經驗多了，成全的眾生就會更多。觀世音菩薩為什麼可以成全無邊無量的眾生？ If we have more experience, we will be able to help more sentient beings. Why can Bodhisattva Guanyin help countless, limitless sentient beings? 為什家家戶戶觀世音？就是因為觀世音所吃的苦就是眾生都嚐過的苦，所以祂能瞭解眾生的苦，如果你沒有做過這件事，你就不知道這件事的苦，這個人的苦，也不會知道如何教他，所以才說要學習去瞭解。 Why is Guanyin in every household? It is because the suffering Guanyin has endured is the suffering all sentient beings have tasted; therefore Guanyin can understand sentient beings’ suffering. If you have never done a certain thing, you will not know the hardship of that thing or the suffering of that person, nor will you know how to teach him. That is why it is said that we must learn to understand. 講話要有講話的技巧，講課要有講課該準備的資料，不要怕講，也不要以為不是講師就不學講。人的一生要時時學習常常突破，不要說這個事情我不做，那就會把自己給定型了。 When speaking, you need speaking skills; when lecturing, you need the materials that should be prepared for a lecture. Do not be afraid to speak, and do not think that because you are not a lecturer, you need not learn to speak. In life, one must always learn and constantly break through. Do not say, “I don’t do this,” for that will define and fix you. 人為什麼會貧窮？因為把自己給定型。覺得自己是怎樣的人，所以不和怎樣的人來往！覺得自己是這樣的人，所以不做怎樣的事。如果你把自己定了型，那吃虧的是自己。 Why do people become poor? Because they define and fix themselves. They think, “This is the kind of person I am, so I won’t associate with such-and-such people!” They think, “This is the kind of person I am, so I won’t do such-and-such things.” If you define and fix yourself, the one who loses out is you. 人最怕有名位，有了名位以後，大家尊敬、恭敬你，久就忘形了。驕傲心養成了，怠慢心養成了，很難改！ What people fear most is having fame and position. Once you have fame and position, everyone respects and reveres you, and after a long time you forget yourself. Once a proud mind is formed and a negligent, disrespectful mind is formed, it is very hard to change! 尤其是當講師的，更要小心，不要愩高！有一點學問不要愩高！有一點點學問，講天文你完全懂嗎？說地理你瞭解嗎？說理論你明白嗎？ Especially those who are lecturers must be even more careful not to be arrogant! When you have a little learning, do not be arrogant! With just a little learning: if you speak of astronomy, do you completely understand it? If you speak of geography, do you understand it? If you speak of theory, do you understand it? 講課的人對自己所講的道理要正確，而真正成功的講師，是一個能全心全意掏出自心，把道氣表現出來的人，這樣的道理最吸引人了。講課者如此，翻譯者也是。 Those who lecture must be correct about the principles they speak. A truly successful lecturer is one who can wholeheartedly pour out their own heart and manifest the atmosphere of the Tao. Such principles are the most attractive. This is true for lecturers, and likewise for interpreters. 行道這個過程如有出差錯，要從自己檢討起，你要先問自己反省自己，才能對外面的因緣一個個去做打算。好比一棵樹，你這棵道心的樹站穩了，則外面的風雨再大，考驗再多，你也不會被考倒。 In the process of practicing the Tao, if something goes wrong, you must begin by examining yourself. You must first ask yourself and reflect on yourself; only then can you make plans for each external cause and condition one by one. It is like a tree: if the tree of your Tao-heart stands firm, then no matter how great the wind and rain outside, no matter how many tests, you will not be defeated. 你的付出必有一個得，但是對於這個得不要太在意，因為這是你們的責任義務。 Your giving will surely have a gain, but do not be too concerned with that gain, because this is your responsibility and duty. 待人處事是修道第一要務。人有沒有修養，從你待人處事中就可以知道。 Dealing with people and handling matters is the first priority in cultivating the Tao. Whether a person has cultivation can be known from how they deal with people and handle matters. 多往別人為你付出的方面去想，就會認為自己做得還不夠，有如此感覺才會去改變自己，才會進步，如一味地要求別人，那麼自己是永遠不會進步的。 Think more about the ways others have given for you, and you will feel that you have not done enough. Only with such a feeling will you change yourself and make progress. If you only make demands on others, then you will never make progress.
